Resistance Training

Brent Hardy

Life is all about how you handle resistance that come your way. In the strength conditioning and power lifting community, the greater the resistance you are against the stronger you get. Resistance is the ability to not be affected by an outside force.  As you deadlift specific amount of weight off the ground. Gravity plus the weight itself is trying to pull you down as you resist that pull. This also pertains to physical, mental, and spiritual development as well as own walk with God.

When it comes to resistance training we need to train within 75-95% of our max weight. It is difficult to train 100% every single time. It will break us, so we train under load that is something we can still stand. That is why you train just under that stimulus. Which is a way to get stronger, but not give in. God does the same. He will always show you a way out. 1 Corinthians 10:13 “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.” Anytime you are under temptation. Be aware. There is a window for you to get out because God doesn't want you to give in. Resist that urge you are feeling in that moment. Remember that resistance is making you stronger. Same with daily temptations we face. The more we resist the stronger we get spiritually.

We face temptations daily even nightly that try to pull us down and they will keep coming. Temptations will never go away. Resist temptation and habitual thoughts that lead down a sinful path. Negative thoughts are a gateway to sinful actions. I’m not saying every negative thought is bad. We have them. I have them, but if you have it linger on and whatever is in your mind will happen. These thoughts such as loneliness, passiveness, anger, frustration, defeat, and boredom can open the door to the Devil. Today, Jesus has broken the authority of the devil in your life. Resist him and he will flee! James 4:7 s“So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.” The more you resist in temptation the stronger you will get just like strength training.
